awesome post! you pretty much nailed every type that shows up to these things. Having been to quite a few DSO shows i'd like to add the 'Bulldoze through the crowd like I'm the only one there' group. these people really irritate me! apparently your not heady enough if you can't ass rape every person in front of you until you can get on stage with the band.

I could add a subset to the Bulldoze group.....

The doe eyed "I Have Boobs So You Should Let Me Stand On The Rail In Front of You" group.

Which honestly is not all that bad to have to put up with.

how about the younging that bonds with the old timers, asking many questions and also busting out facts that make the old guys say, "jesus you know more than i do, how old are you!?!?"

i've definitely talked to a couple older heads who i think were surprised at what i knew...seems like a lot of them think were all just there for the drugs or something. just j/k, actually it seems like most of them are very receptive and happy that the music is living on in us.

yea, thing is many of the kids there, are there for the drugs/party. I really don't like the scene. I'd love to talk dead with many of the people there, but most have no idea about the dead. Which is partly why i talk to the older guys. Its unfortunate that I see so much GD attire at random shows yet everyone i talk to has no idea about the dead and would rather listen to computer noises and take some kind of upper. I think real dead heads are a dying breed and wearing GD attire is a growing fashion, accompanied by dead ignorance. shame....

It's kind of like with fashion, everything comes back around eventually, usually a horrifying travesty of the original, if you happen to have been around for the original.

Hey pal, I am 40 and wear my Dead shirts with pride much to the chagrin and embarrassment of my wife and kids! Just kiddin Wis, But I have been to a few DSO shows and I enjoy it but I do agree with you that many of the younger kids are there for the party and I hope wearing a dead shirt never becomes "in fashion" I then would never be able to wear my concert shirts again, too bad about furthur not hittin the midwest, they have played twice now in Boston in a 3 month span, I am seeing them on the 21st and saw them at the Orpheum!
